Niccy & Michael’s Wedding in Champoluc, January 2020

Niccy Wilson and Michael Hague were married in Champoluc on Monday 20th January 2020, surrounded by a large group of family and friends.

The wedding party – 33 guests in total

Niccy’s daughter and Michael’s sister were bridesmaids.

The wedding ceremony venue – the historic Comune

Niccy and Michael were married in the stunning Comune, overlooking the Ayas Valley and the peaks of the Monterosa range, where they shared some personal vows with each other at the beginning of the ceremony.

After the formal proceedings, the wedding guests went up to Lo Retsignon via the funicular whilst the bride took the groom on a secret detour to visit a local goat!

Apparently Michael loves goats and Niccy wanted to surprise him with a goat on their wedding day! Fortunately Greta (from our resort team) owns a goat. Goat and King, the horse (his stable mate) willingly posed for photos with the couple.

The couple then joined their guests for prosecco and a wonderful Italian lunch.

After lunch the fun and frolics began with some skiing and sledging down the mountain – it didn’t seem to matter how old you were!

The wedding party returned to Hotel La Rouja for an evening reception. The wedding party ate off the main menu but they requested that the hotel make their delicious strawberry cheesecake as their desert /wedding cake.

They had previously tasted it on their pre wedding visit and had fallen in love with the desert. The hotel made a larger version for the couple to cut.

We cannot thank Ski 2 enough for helping us create the wedding day we dreamed of.

From the first conversation over the phone right through to the actual day they ensured that every detail was perfect. No matter what the request, Fiona and the team went to every effort to ensure we got the day we had hoped for.

The team in resort were fantastic, not just on the day, but also for the entirety of our stay. Always happy and extremely attentive to all the guests ensuring that their needs were met.

We really couldn’t fault our day it was perfect and we would say – for anyone who loves the mountains and is thinking of getting married like we did – to just book it!

A wedding with Ski 2 will be one that guests will talk about for weeks after, and one you will never forget!

We would also like to thank and recommend the Hotel la Rouja who exceeded all expectations. Their hospitality and attention to detail is faultless the rooms were beautiful and food superb! such a friendly welcoming hotel. It really was a great recommendation from the Ski 2 team.

We look forward to hopefully seeing everyone in resort next year.

Georden and Jamie’s Wedding

Georden and Jamie initially contacted us in July 2017 to explore the options for their idea of a winter wedding in Italy.

The wedding party – 21 guests in total, arrived in Champoluc a few days before the ceremony, this allowed us to run through the various aspects of the wedding day with Georden and Jamie in advance, and for Georden to have a trial hair and makeup appointment with our resident hair dresser.

The majority of the guests stayed at the delightful Hotel La Rouja. This boutique hotel benefits from a great location in the centre of the resort, with wonderful views up and down the valley. It’s a stylish hotel that is comfortable and welcoming.

The Wedding Day

The bride and her 4 bridesmaids had their hair and makeup done at the hotel on the morning of the wedding. 7am does seem like an early start, but not too early to start drinking prosecco!

The Ceremony

Our wedding ceremony’s take place in the stunning Comune, a historic building overlooking the Ayas Valley and the peaks of the Monterosa range.

Lunch Time Reception

Georden and Jamie and their guests celebrated after the ceremony at a reception held at Bar du Soleil, located at the top of the Frachey funicular. The restaurant is easily accessible, an important consideration if there are guests who don’t ski, as they will still feel very much part of the fun and frivolities from the balcony or the wedding marquee.

The location is perfect for the novice skier too as the slope is gentle and has a travellator to get the guests back up to the restaurant. For those that wish to ski a longer run – La Mandria chair lift is just below the restaurant and this takes you higher up the mountain, which lends itself to wonderful photo opportunities.

Guests were greeted with a glass of Prosecco and then the couple made their entrance on the skidoo.

We put up an open sided marquee on the terrace of the restaurant, and built an ice bar for the drinks. A wonderful buffet selection was served under the marquee.

Another wonderful photo opportunity and a chance to enjoy the mountains for what was a perfect afternoon.

The Evening Reception

Georden and Jamie booked the Brasserie for their exclusive use for the evening reception. Georden decorated the table with some wedding items that she sent out with us when our buses left for Italy in November. This meant some forward planning on her part, but it allowed her to really personalise her reception with candles and other wedding decorations. The couple also brought their own music playlist to play over the restaurant’s music system.

Everyone was treated to a wonderful firework display half way through the evening. You know it’s a great party when everyone heads to bed at 3am!

The Following Day…

The next day saw the group, back up on the mountains for a couple of hours, along with Rob Grange, our recommended photographer – taking the photos which Georden and Jamie will treasure and remind them of their spectacular ski wedding.

And from our happy couple:

Firstly, thank you so much to Fiona, for arranging everything, you were so helpful and patient with us and answered all of our questions, you really went above and beyond to make sure everything was organised for us and ran smoothly.

Roger and the team were also great and arranged everything for our guests, it really took the stress out of arranging a group holiday alongside a wedding! The packs we received before we set off were a really nice touch too.

It’s hard to put into words how grateful we are to the team in Champoluc, they really did go above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. From landing to arriving back at the airport we were looked after. Everyone was helpful and friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had the best possible time. All of our guests have said how well organised it was and what an amazing time they had. Special thanks to Oli for the tour of the mountains, a great way to end the holiday 👍

The wedding day was incredible, everything was arranged perfectly, we literally just had to say ‘si’. We loved all of the special touches throughout the day, especially the ice bar! We really do appreciate all of the effort and planning it must have taken to make it the most amazing day for us and our guests. We didn’t even have to pack up our decorations, they were delivered to our room the next day in our hold-all ready to go!

Finally, we would just like to say it really was the best day/week of our lives and we really couldn’t have done it without you! Hopefully we will ski with you next season!

Mr & Mrs Jenkins

Getting ‘hitched’ and going skiing!

Swapping high heels and brogues for ski and board boots, the bridal party attracted cheers, hugs and impromptu photo-ops with holiday makers in Champoluc on Thursday! Mr and Mrs Morgan had practised skiing in non-traditional attire earlier in the week when they took to the slopes as a 10ft T-rex and Marge Simpson with their band of merry men  women – including, a shark, Donald Trump, two Mexicans, and several (if not quite seven) dwarfs. We were left guessing at what the fancy dress theme could possibly be, but it all made sense once we were told it was things beginning with the bride and groom’s initials (S, D, G, M)!

Looking altogether more glamorous on the day they tied the knot, Stephanie and Gary were treated to a sunny outdoor ceremony in Antagnod, before heading for the Del Lago blue run from the top of the La Mandria chair lift.

The bride and her bridesmaids all had their dresses tailored to enable them to wear beautiful long dresses for the ceremony (obscuring their ski socks!) that would ‘hitch’ up in style for skiing later in the day!

Blue skies, a relatively warm day and spectacular views provided the perfect backdrop for the time of their lives and some very unique wedding photos! No one had to be told to smile for photos as guests, onlookers and our own Ski 2 staff grinned from ear to ear at the sheer joy of the day.

All that remains is to thank Steph and Gary and all of their guests for sharing this wonderful occasion with us.

Pre-Wedding Excitement

We asked Steph and Gary, our bride and groom, to tell us how they are feeling in the run up to their Ski 2 wedding this week. Here’s what they had to say:

What are you most excited about?

We are most excited about having all of our friends and family together for the whole week doing what we love!  As well as getting married! We have looked forward to this week since exactly a year ago when we came to visit Champoluc and skied the area and decided on venues etc. We absolutely fell in love with the place! That day seems like a dream now!

How did the ski wedding idea come about?

We both love our winter holidays in the mountains. Gary snowboards and I ski, which means I can go a lot faster in style. So much so that on our 4th date (yes, I am that person, I counted!) we went to Glenshee in Scotland (March 2013) on a ski date! 5 hours from where we live!
When Gary proposed in Kitzbuhel (January 2015), at the bottom of the Hahnenkamm run no less, we just knew then that it had to be a ski wedding!

Are any of your guests first time skiers?

There are a few of our guests who are setting off on their maiden ski, I would say we are split 50/50 to skiers and non-skiers! Lots of the guests are looking forward to skiing in their wedding wear!

Other than the ski wedding, what exciting things have you got planned for the week?

We are having a fancy dress party on Tuesday which is combined with a 2nd birthday, so that should be fun! We’ve got little ones, nieces/nephews and god children that are skiing for their first time… they too are so excited! On Friday we are having a BBQ at Lo Bistrot and combining that with a 60th birthday party, so that’s quite cool!

Thank you to Steph and Gary for taking the time to talk to us in between last minute champagne-buying in France. If you are interested in organising a Ski 2 wedding for next season, please contact our wedding planner, Fiona

David and Zoe’s Ski Wedding in Champoluc

Just Married and Snowboarding Together!

Thank you to everyone at Ski 2 in Champoluc for making our day more special than we could have imagined!”-  Mrs Zoe Noble Atkins, February 2017

Against a backdrop of majestic mountains and blue skies, the beautiful town hall in Antagnod created a romantic setting for bride and groom Zoe and David to tie the knot on Wednesday. The town hall features patterns on every surface – herringbone tiles, delicately painted interior and exterior walls, and beautiful wooden furniture. The bride entered the ceremony via a carved wooden staircase to a room full of guests who were all beautifully attired and snow-booted!

Following the ceremony, where a few happy tears were shed, the guests were whisked off in a small fleet of Ski 2 minivans. The newlyweds followed in style, from boarding the funicular train to arriving at the reception on the slopes side saddle on the back of a snowmobile!

Enjoying the Mountains

Bubbly in the sun and boards of local delicacies, including charcuterie and cheese, awaited the wedding party under a white marquee – energising some guests for time on the slopes. The children took (fearlessly!) to sledges and the bride and groom and a few guests strapped on their boots and took a run on the pistes.

The Evening Celebrations

A magical day was topped off by a delicious dinner in a private dining area at Lo Bistrot and, against a starry sky, a personal choreographed fireworks display by dual qualified professional pyro-technician and ski instructor Nick Roberts!

If you’d like to share your special day with us, please contact us to discuss your dream wedding!

David & Zoe will be getting married in Champoluc

We are looking forward to welcoming David Noble, Zoe Atkins and their wedding party to the resort this month.

David and Zoe decided to have a ski-wedding as they have been snowboarding together for the past eight years, enjoy the mountain environment and wanted to have a small, intimate ceremony with their close friends and family. We met with them in order to discuss the resort of Champoluc as well as the options for a ski wedding available to them. Working closely with them has enabled us to tailor their day according to their preferences; from flower arrangements and activities, to wedding meals and fireworks displays.

David and Zoe’s travelling party is 21 people strong; most of whom shall be skiing or snowboarding, and some for their first time. They have found it hugely gratifying that so many people will be sharing their passion for snow sports in order to celebrate their big day. We have two reception meals planned; the first is an afternoon buffet style meal in a mountain restaurant, with a second, more formal evening meal in a village hotel. The evening will then be capped off with a short firework display.

Where possible, David and Zoe have tried to add a personal touch to the wedding procedures; Zoe has handmade their wedding rings, the best man has crafted rustic place cards and they will be using David’s old snowboard as a guestbook for everyone to sign.

For more information about our ski weddings and to discuss your own specific requirements, please call Roger on 01962 713330.
